Leonard Burtman's Biggest Hair Lisa Reed Big on Top Beehive Bombshell Bouffant

I think Lenny might have called the agency and asked for a model "big on top" for this cover. With a lacquered cone of honey colored cotton candy, Lisa Reed makes love to Leonard Burtman's camera in Aqua Net splendor. Truly a thing of wonder...and what I wonder is if John Waters was subscribing.

Interestingly, Hair Spray was invented in Broadview Illinois! True. View this broad while I continue.

Nothing is known, at least by me, about Lisa Reed. Lenny is scarce in his copy as well...noting only that she is "warm and witty" and an avid reader. We know that ourselves as the "Satanic Siren" clearly affects a bespeckled look while perusing Lenny's book collection. You know, the intellectual type. Not many bright women I know enjoy browsing my shelves in their garter belt, but they are welcome. As Lisa was reading topless, I have had to edit out the title in her hand, and a later shot in which Lenny's bookshelves help prop up the hair.

Satana had the employ of young Eric Stanton as Art Director for this issue. At the time, Lenny Burtman was publishing as "Selbee Associates" and working out of an address on West 56th Street.

This issue is from 1963...and so is the decor. Mid-century retro-modern throughout!

Now I have been pretty hard on Ms. Reed only because I can't find any good material on her...it's her own fault for using a pseudonym. But if I wanted to be really mean, I would point out the cover price has been reduced for clearance.
