One of the most unusual acts in show business! Bartlett and King were so sure of their act, they hired legendary New Orleans photographer "Myles de Russy" for their publicity shots.

The show, which I have tracked all the way north to Youngstown, Ohio in 1957, featured two numbers. One titled "Gorilla and the Lady" and the other "Beauty and the Beast!" Now that would suffice for a post on ANY blog, but wait, there's more.
Five years earlier they made a MOVIE! (Oh GOOD!) titled "Maiden and the Monster" which is described as a burlesque short, by Broadway Roadshow Productions. I have a few minutes of the flick posted below. Enjoy!
From the little photo below, it appears to me Miss Bartlett (or Miss King...I'm not quite sure which is the beauty) could have made it on her own. So I'm going to guess the show biz pimp in the Frankenstein mask was her jealous hubby. At least they stayed together. Should either still be hoofing, don't sue me...I'm GUESSING here.

He had a passion for photography and people. He had a great eye for
symmetry, color and design. He never met a stranger. He loved life. He was kind
to others. He never thought he was better then someone else. He never let the
colors of people affect his friendships. He helped many, in times of need.
He was not selfish.
He landed in New York after the war, worked as a photographer and met
my mother, a model from Texas. They soon relocated back to his hometown, New
Orleans, settled in with three children. He became well known in his industry
early, catching the eyes of many. Some of his photography has
been recognized in museums.
He first photographed World War II, then, going into High Fashion
Photography in New York.
Upon moving to New Orleans, he was in advertising. He photographed for
National Geographic, Mardis Gras events, publications, catalogs, local
