Astrid Daley for Vintage Sleaze Contemporary Art (Contemporary Vintage Sleaze #5 in the Series)

This week's Vintage Sleaze Contemporary Art is by Astrid Daley, and a special contribution it is! Ms. Daley was one of several pioneers who got MY sleazeball rolling. Daley edited the staggering slab of sixties paperback smut titled "SIN-A-RAMA: Sleaze Sex Paperbacks of the Sixties" five years ago which belongs on any bookshelf, be it personal or library. The book is so good, it is amazing that I haven't violated the copyright on it yet! It also has a list of contributors I proudly count as friends and influences (though they may be ashamed of it)

Appropriately enough, her contribution here is a skillfully manipulated paperback book! Daley has thus not only given me a considerable laugh (which is my daily goal) but perfectly captures the author in a candid (camera) moment...relaxing with his friends. Additionally, she tops contemporary artist Richard Prince, one of whose Nurse paintings based on a sleaze paperback cover sold recently for 6.5 million dollars.

Appropriate THIS Prince!

Astrid and her hubby are distant heros of mine, and in a world in which most of my heros are either croaking or croaked, no small thing. Collectors of considerable skill and more...I'll only link to one site hoping to goose them along on it, but there are more places to find them. One day they will stop being so busy, smell the roses and add more images and links to it.
